Elements of short film.

In this lesson we learn about some of the elements of short films we've watched over the lesson.
One of the films I watched is called PLUG "Political Logistics Unifying Genome", it is a short film based on the future (around 2088), the genre is possibly drama and the director is David Levy who also directed Tron Legacy, Prometheus, Ender's Game, Tomorrowland and Avatar2,

We also had to write down all the rules we had to abide by on a spider diagram.
The rules were:

• No swearing
• No guns/ knives/ drugs (even if there fake)
• A maximum of 3 actors
• No

Overview- Describe what the project was,"For this project we were asked to..."

Primary and Secondary research- What did you do? - detail specific work that inspired you (questionnaire).

Planning and Pre-production - brain storms, ideas, plans, specific paperwork - pull out specific examples  make sure you add what you found good and bad about what you made.

Include target audience in your evaluation.

Include the age rating for your film/ project, if it's a game use the PEGI (Pan European Game Information) and the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification)

guidelines.

Production- name the things you used name the camera, include terminology, name the type of shots you used and why.

Post production- Finalize work, edits and adjustments (Final production (AMMENDED)).

What would you do differently?- If you had a second chance what would you change and why.

Peer Feedback- Ask other students what they think is good and bad about your project and do the same with their's.

1)      For this project we were asked to create our own short film based on the genre Film Noir, the film had to be a maximum of 2 minutes long and a minimum of 1 minuet long and had to have a maximum of 3 actors all together also and the film had to contain a secret of some sort, whether it would be a secret place, person or thing also none of the following were aloud:

2)      As primary and secondary research we were asked to go on https://www.surveymonkey.com, a website that you can use to create a survey online, your survey can be about whatever you want it to be, ours was about, for example one of the questions were "How long would you expect a short film to be" or "What is your name".

Raja Gosnell- he is the director of Scooby Doo, the children's TV program that inspired our group to create our film, also the film V for Vendetta (Directed by James McTeigue) inspired us to create our film because of the mask on the main character's face (this creates mystery as you do not know who is behind the mask), as part of our secondary research, we watched a film called "Ashes" by Sophie Black.

3)      What we did next was create a brainstorm for our film, all the different ideas we had were put together into it, once we discussed the ideas we had, we made a choice about what we wanted as a group, this brainstorm was quite helpful because then all of the group could see what the film would contain, what the genre was etc.

4)   For filming we used a Panasonic Camcorder, a tri-pod, a mask (for the character to wear), the types of shots we used

Short film

Today. we went outside with the rest of the class to film our scene, the things that went well in the lesson are; our team work and our ability to get along with each other.
First we went to the court yard at the back of the collage, the first thing we did was set up the camera, tripod and the microphone, we filmed the scene.

At the start of the lesson we watched a short film about why it is a good idea to apply to vote and make sure that we do actually vote, because even though your vote only counts as 1, it could mean the difference between the party you want getting in to power and the party that you don't want getting into power.

Evaluation

I think that generally, my short film went well. Kaza Brookbanks was  in charge of directing the film and I felt that he was okay at it. The actors were Bethany, Tana and me. We were set the task of making a film that  has to have a n element of secrets in it.

Short Film Proposal

Alien Encounter - Short film

My film theme will be around Aliens (or extra terrestrials) and Area 51, the top secret military base in the Nevada Desert, the place famous for containing the corpse (possibly) of an alien or the wreckage of a alien space ship or some other form of ground-breaking proof that Aliens exist.

The secret here is that no-one knows about what's inside this base, only those who work there, and they would have to have sworn to the American President and to America itself to keep quite about what they know, to tell no-one or they would be committing an act of treason against the American Government and the President of the United States of America.

I plan to start the film in a tunnel of some form of dark corridor (possibly in collage), where the sound of an alien or some form of alien sound will be played, the actor will turn round and there won't be anything there...

The alien will sound again, actor will run and be chased through the hall way, though various different places (including outside somewhere in Nottingham if and when I know where I can go and how I would get there).
The alien will catch up with the actor, the alien again makes a sound- then when the actor looks back round the alien is directly in front of the camera, the alien lunges forward.... the lights go off, there's a thunder strike, the lights turn back on, the actor has the prop stuck through his chest (it won't actually be in real life, but the camera would be put at an angle so it looks like it is, then the lights the film will go back and the sound of the alien will be made for the last time, then thunder will strike again before  the whole film will fade out.
I have a friend who could lend me a alien mask for my film, of which i am very grateful for.

Ashes- Sophie Black

In this session we watched a short film called Ashes by Sophie Black

The message behind this film was that the fact that the woman was being abused in the relationship.
I also cannot remember the sound of the music and how it conveyed
The atmosphere in this film was quite sad and gloomy

Genre: Comedy.
There are loads of cutaways, going into different places and time periods.
There was quite a few medium close-up shots of the actor after he zoned back into the real world.
I can't remember what sounds were in the film because I couldn't hear any.
